As entrepreneurs, we understand the excitement and challenge of running your own business. The burning need to realize a dream. That is why at Belforno we’re inspired by the men and women who run their own pizzerias and endeavor to support them in any way we can.

When you are successful, we are successful and so we’ve developed the Pizzeria Business Planning Guide to address the most important aspects of growing your business. In this post we’ll cover the first of 5 Key Steps in Planning Your Pizza Making Business.

STEP 1: Your Vision, Mission and Goals

STEP 2: Analyze Your Market

STEP 3: Build Your Sales and Marketing Plan

STEP 4: Build Your Operating Plan

STEP 5: Build Your Financial Plan

Fast track the process by downloading the Belforno Pizzeria Business Planning Guide. A 16 page E-book filled with hot tips on running your pizza making business efficiently and profitably!

Technically your business plan will start with an Executive Summary. It’s much easier to tackle this once you’ve covered all 5 of the steps above, so we’ll look at how to write this in the last post of the series.

Writing Your Vision & Mission Statements

The vision and mission statements are clear and concise descriptions of where the business is headed.

Describe:

  • what the business produces
  • who the products and services cater to
  • the unique characteristics of your business

How will you serve your customers’ needs better than anyone else? Here you will also discuss the values of the management team and the type of business culture you are trying to create.

HOT TIP
Your Vision describes what your business will have accomplished in 5 years.

Choosing the Goals & Objectives for Your Pizzeria

The objectives for your business and for this business plan should be clearly articulated. Remember, “If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will take you there.”

Ensure your goals are SMART:

  • Specific – be clear about what you want to achieve
  • Measurable – quantify the desired results
  • Assignable – allocate responsibility for delivery
  • Realistic – what can be achieved with available resources
  • Time Related – specify when the results will be achieved

Getting this first step right will make putting the rest of the plan together much easier. Take some time to think about what exactly what you want to achieve and by when. When you look back in 5 years, what will you have wanted to achieve and what are the core values that will guide you in achieving it.

In the next post in the series we’ll take you through a step-by-step process for analyzing the market your pizzeria will be operating in. We’ll identify the greatest opportunities available and address any potential threats.

We are available to help with the design of your pizza oven and preparation areas and share with you our experience when it comes to meeting the requirements of fire regulations. Our aim is to supply you with a quality piece of cooking equipment at a competitive price.
